چکیده

We design two deterministic polynomial time algorithms for variants of a problem introduced by Edmonds in 1967: determine the rank of a matrix M whose entries are homogeneous linear polynomials over the integers. Given a linear subspace B of the n×n matrices over some field F, we consider the following problems: symbolic matrix rank (SMR) is the problem to determine the maximum rank among matrices in B, while symbolic determinant identity testing (SDIT) is the question to decide whether there exists a nonsingular matrix in B. The constructive versions of these problems are asking to find a matrix of maximum rank, respectively a nonsingular matrix, if there exists one. Our first algorithm solves the constructive SMR when B is spanned by unknown rank one matrices, answering an open question of Gurvits. Our second algorithm solves the constructive SDIT when B is spanned by triangularizable matrices, but the triangularization is not given explicitly. Both algorithms work over finite fields of size at least n + 1 and over the rational numbers, and the first algorithm actually solves (the non-constructive) SMR independently from the field size. Our main tool to obtain these results is to generalize Wong sequences, a classical method to deal with pairs of matrices, to the case of pairs of matrix spaces.

Lecture 21

1 Overview In this lecture, we will • Wrap up Alon-Edmonds-Luby's graph theoretical codes: construction and analysis of distance • Introduce the interplay between codes and computational complexity: open problems and pseudorandomness 2 Alon-Edmonds-Luby The construction of the code depends on three main ingredients: • A binary code C 0 = [d, R 0 d, δ 0 d] 2 , where R 0 and δ 0 are our target ra...

Duality for vector equilibrium problems with constraints

‎In the paper‎, ‎we study duality for vector equilibrium problems using a concept of generalized convexity in dealing with the quasi-relative interior‎. ‎Then‎, ‎their applications to optimality conditions for quasi-relative efficient solutions are obtained‎. ‎Our results are extensions of several existing ones in the literature when the ordering cones in both the objective space and the constr...

Shortest Path and Maximum Flow Problems in Networks with Additive Losses and Gains

We introduce networks with additive losses and gains on the arcs. If a positive flow of x units enter an arc a, then x + g(a) units exit. Arcs may increase or consume flow, i.e., they are gainy or lossy. Such networks have various applications, e.g., in financial analysis, transportation, and data communication. Problems in such networks are generally intractable. In particular, the shortest pa...

THE ENTROPIES OF THE SEQUENCES OF FUZZY SETS AND THE APPLICATIONS OF ENTROPY TO CARDIOGRAPHY

In this paper, rstly we have introduced to entropy of sequences of fuzzy sets and given sometheorems about it. Secondly, the waves P and T which appears in electrocardiograms weretransferred to fuzzy sets, by using denition of entropy for sequences of fuzzy sets, and somenumerical values were obtained for sequences of waves P and T. Thus any person can makea medical predictions for some cardiac...
